Mel's Skin Laundry

Meet Melissa Minor, owner and founder of Mel's Skin Laundry Co.  Mel is a wife, mum of three, a property manager, a baker, a crafter and a DIY'er.

What started as a little soap hobby, has grown over the pandemic. She found that she had time to research and examine the products that went into her soaps.  She spent hours pouring over books, looking at websites, testing other soaps, finding what she liked  (and what she didn't!), and was fascinated by the techniques that other soapers developed.  She worked on her recipes, sourcing natural, organic ingredients.

A lot of science and chemistry goes into the process of making an environmentally friendly soap.  From precise measuring, melting, mixing and combining of butters, oils, fragrances and colourants, and the saponification process, the point when soap becomes soap.

The result is very special bar of soap!

Sew Rustic Candle & Gift Co

When we came across Sew Rustic Candle & Gift Co last year, we had a hunch it would be a perfect addition to our store, and when we tested the candles it was love at first burn!

So, Meet Sarah! Sarah owns & operates this home-based business, nestled in the heart of rural Waterloo Region, in the small town of New Dundee.

Sarah began by selling hand sewn items for the home, wooden home décor, and by refinishing antique furniture and eventually handmade furniture.

She started dabbling in candle making in 2019, and was surprised at how well received the new product was. In February 2019 she officially launched her candle line. An all natural soy based candle with phthalate free fragrance oils. Hand poured in small batches to ensure accuracy and perfection.
